Green light for all sports venues

The competition venues for the World Transplant Games Dresden 2025 have been officially inspected and approved. Gary Green, Sports Manager of the World Transplant Games Federation (WTGF), was impressed by the venues—and naturally, the city of Dresden itself left a lasting impression.

As a representative of the WTGF, the WTGF Sports Manager traveled to Dresden to thoroughly review all the venues. In this context, Gary Green also received updates on the current progress of the event’s sports planning.

All 15 sports venues were inspected, including the Sportpark Ostra with its arenas and the newly opened Heinz-Steyer-Stadium. Other highlights that were positively noted included the Swimming Facility Freiberger Platz with its two 50-meter pools and the historic Moritzburg, where the triathlon will take place. A total of 17 sports (track and field, bowling, triathlon, cycling, 5-kilometer run, golf, swimming, 6-a-side football, 3×3 basketball, volleyball, tennis, table tennis, pétanque, darts, squash, badminton, and archery) will be featured.

Gary Green was accompanied on his visit to Dresden by Gudrun Manuwald-Seemüller and Anne-Maria Gehlhar, the managing directors of the World Transplant Games 2025 Dresden GmbH, and Moritz Struckhof, Sports Manager of CitySportMarketing GmbH. “It was Gary Green’s first time in Dresden, and he was very impressed by the city. It’s great that he was immediately enthusiastic about our sports venues“, summarized Anne-Maria Gehlhar the visit.
