Since when have you been transplanted?
I was transplanted on June 2, 2023.
Which organ was transplanted?
I received a liver transplant.
Why was the transplantation necessary, and what has it enabled you to do?
The transplant was necessary due to an autoimmune disease. It has given me my “old” life back, allowing me to participate in international sports competitions once again.
How was the time for you just before and after the transplant?
It was five years without sports, which was incredibly tough for me as a hobby athlete. The road back to my old life was short but challenging, filled with a lot of sports and physical activities.
What role does sports play in your life?
Sports play a huge role in my life. I’ve been actively involved in sports since my youth, including handball, triathlon, half marathons, and cycling races.
What have you already achieved in sports?
Just 343 days after my transplant, I became the German champion in the 5km and 1500m races. My personal achievement is being able to train “hard” again without any limitations.
What do you associate with the World Transplant Games, and why are you excited about WTG2025 in Dresden?
The WTG2025 will be my first World Transplant Games, and they’re taking place in my hometown. For years, it has been a goal of mine to participate in an international championship, and the WTG2025 will make that dream come true.
In which competitions will you likely compete in Dresden?
I plan to compete in football, cycling races, athletics (running events), and the 5km run.
