KiO honors Kristina Breuch with Helmut-Werner-Award
We are thrilled to announce that Kristina Breuch, a dedicated nurse from KfH, has received the prestigious Helmut-Werner-Award from the organization Children’s Aid for Organ Transplantation (KiO). The award was presented by table tennis legend Timo Boll during a special event in Neu-Isenburg, celebrating KiO’s 20th anniversary. Gudrun Manuwald-Seemüller, one of the two managing directors of WTG2025 Dresden GmbH, was also present as a representative at the event.
Green light for all sports venues
The competition venues for the World Transplant Games Dresden 2025 have been officially inspected and approved. Gary Green, Sports Manager of the World Transplant Games Federation (WTGF), was impressed by the venues—and naturally, the city of Dresden itself left a lasting impression.
First Press Conference for the World Transplant Games 2025
Dresden, September 4 – A large media turnout for our first press conference. Nearly a year before the opening of the World Transplant Games 2025 in Dresden, we presented the concept, sports, venues, and initial content of the championships for transplant athletes to members of the press. To kick things off, we were honored to have our prominent ambassador, former professional footballer Ivan Klasnić, as a guest in Dresden.
Grand Reopening of Heinz-Steyer-Stadium
We are thrilled to announce the grand reopening of the Heinz-Steyer-Stadion in Dresden, which took place on August 30, 2024, after a significant renovation. The stadium’s first event, the “Golden Oval,” a premier track and field competition, marked the beginning of a new era for this iconic sports venue. The Heinz-Steyer-Stadion is also part of the WTG2025.

Power Woman and from Baden-Württemberg: Brand ambassador Bera Wierhake already has seven WTG-titles to her name
Every participant of the World Transplant Games has their own story. For Bera Wierhake from Baden-Württemberg, fate struck in the first few months of her life. At the age of nine months, she underwent a liver transplant. As an infant, she suffered from a bile duct closure, a condition that occurs in only one out of every 30,000 births and can lead to death.
