The Games will be hosted by TransDia Sport Deutschland e.V. which won a competitive bid to host the Games.
The Games are owned by the World Transplant Games Federation. A unanimous decision of the trustees awarded the Games to Dresden.
Entry is open to all recipients of life supporting allografts and haemopoietic cell transplants from other individuals or species which require or have required the use of immunosuppressive drug therapies.
Competitors must have been transplanted for at least 1 year, with stable graft function, be medically fit and have trained for the events in which they have entered.
If a potential competitor has been transplanted for at least 6 months, with stable graft function, has been training and has permission from his own doctor, his entry may be considered by the WTGF medical committee and be allowed.
Age participation is from 4 years to 80+ years.
Donor families and living donors are invited to choose from a select array of sporting events and take part in up to 5 different sports to help recognize their contribution. These include: Darts, Golf Pairs, Petanque singles, 5km road race, 100m athletics sprint, ball throw, long jump, 3km racewalk (woman) and 5km racewalk (Men), 50 meter back swim, 50 meter breast swim, 50m freestyle swim, 50 meter fly swim and the triathlon.

The Games will be held between Sunday August 17 to Saturday August 24, 2025.
Archery, Track and Field, Badminton, 3on3 Basketball, Cycling, Darts, Petanque, 5k Road Race, Sprint Triathlon, Squash, Swimming, Golf, Table Tennis, Tennis, Ten Pin Bowling, Volleyball and 6-a-side Football.
The Games have two objectives: to promote organ donation and encourage more people across the world to register and support donation; and to help recipients improve their health and fitness around their transplanted organ.
The Games have been held on the continents of Europe, North America, South America, Asia, Africa and Australia. This will be the first time the Games will be staged in Dresden. They were last staged in Perth, Australia, in 2023. The last time the Games were held in Europe was in Newcastle, England, in 2019.

All athletes must apply as participants and be confirmed by the team manager. Parents of junior athletes create a profile for their own and add the children as family members.

The username is assigned automatically when the account is created. Before the password can be set, the username is in the confirmation email.
You can change the booking of the Medical Health Insurance, the package and the hotel category selection in your profile. It is important to go through the registration process to the end so that you receive a cancellation invoice and a new invoice. If there is a credit balance, we will transfer it back to you.
For cost and effort reasons, it is not possible for participants to also help as volunteers on individual days. We want to give participants the best chance to enjoy the event and support the athletes in the audience at other sports competitions.
Yes, all athletes must book a package for accreditation. If accommodation has already been organized independently, the Lite package can be booked.
In order to be accredited as a supporter for the WTG25, supporters must also book a package and pay the participation fee.
The Dresden Local Organizing Committee (LOC) has carefully set registration fees based on a detailed budget to ensure the Games remain financially sustainable while meeting all commitments. To keep athlete fees as affordable as possible, the LOC has prioritized subsidies for athletes over reducing supporter package costs. We hope our supporters will view their package purchases as a gesture of donation, crowdfunding, or sponsorship – a heartfelt way to contribute and be part of this remarkable journey.
There are two ways for supporters to register. Either they create their own profile as a supporter if they are of legal age and enter all the information themselves or an athlete creates a supporter as a family member. If the athlete adds the supporter, the supporter does not receive an independent profile. All information must then be taken from the athlete’s “main profile”. In order to create a supporter, information on insurance, visa, etc. is also requested.
In both cases, the team manager does not have to confirm a supporter separately. Only athletes need to be confirmed.
Yes, participants can book breakfast on site at the hotel. The prices for breakfast depend on the hotel.
As all hotels are located in the city centre and public transport is included in the package price, parking is not included.
Not at the Moment. We offer single rooms in cat 1,3,4 + caravan.
For logistical reasons, only one accommodation category can be selected when booking, and specific hotels cannot be chosen. After registration closes, we will assign you to a hotel. This ensures the best possible allocation of team accommodations.
All event tickets are exclusively included in the Full Package. The activities of the Cultural Evening take place open air and are freely accessible. The Gala Dinner and catering at the Opening Ceremony are not part of the Lite Package. We do not plan to sell additional tickets for the Gala Dinner or Opening Ceremony catering.
Only one full payment is possible for single payments. If the team manager have indicated that they do not wish to make an individual payment only, the participant could pay the team manager by the beginning of June.
The person who has the main profile and is of legal age pays at the end of the registration process. If an athlete is added as an additional person, they must be confirmed separately by the team manager before they can complete their profile. Even without completing the profile of the additional athlete, the payment of the main profile can be completed. If the additional athlete completes their data after confirmation, the payment page will not appear again.
The participant can go back to his/her profile without paying and complete the missing data. The data should be saved until then. Only payment (for group payment via the group payment button and for individual payment with the direct payment) is considered a fixed booking.
Unfortunately, we cannot offer a discount for individual competitions only. The Full and Lite packages are calculated with the spirit of the games and community in mind, emphasizing the support of all participants. However, there will be a Donate Run on August 17, which is open to the public and free of charge. More information will follow.
You can enter sample times and numbers here and log in again after booking your flights or trains and change the data.
The full package includes the transport of sports-related bulky luggage (bicycle, golf, bowling, archery) on the day of arrival on August 16 and 17 and on the day of departure on August 24. This means that only this luggage is transported from Dresden main station / Dresden Airport to the hotel without participants. All persons will use public transport to get to their hotel and are themselves responsible for the transport of non-sport related luggage. The ticket for public transport is already included in the full package.
There will be a welcome counter at the train station and at the airport to greet all participants and help with checking in bulky luggage. Our staff will be guided by the arrival times of participants entered in advance in the registration system.
We will offer transportation to the cycling, triathlon and golf events on competition days. This shuttle service will start at a central point in Dresden, which is easy to reach for those who have booked the Full package and are therefore staying in one of our hotels.
Those who have booked the Lite package and have organized their accommodation themselves can also use these shuttles.
Registered supporters can also use the shuttle, but athletes have priority due to limited space.
For us as the organizer it is absolutely necessary that you have Travel Health Insurance. Therefore, you cannot complete the registration form yet. The data you enter will be saved temporarily. Search for your existing insurance data or buy new insurance through us or from other insurance companies. You can then complete the registration form.
We cannot automatically create an insurance certificate; we have to contact ERGO Insurance directly. They will provide us with the documents on request. If you would like an insurance certificate promptly, please contact us at registration@wtg2025.com.
We need the correct passport number to create the invitation letter at the end of the registration process. To complete the registration anyway, click ‚No‘ in response to the visa question and contact the WTG2025 team registration@wtg2025.com later.
All documents can be viewed and downloaded on the last page of the registration process. This page appears immediately after payment or after clicking the “Group Payment” button (if your team chose this payment method). You can also access it later in your profile by navigating to the last page.
After successful payment, a confirmation email is sent automatically. These documents are only available on the registration page and are not sent via email to ensure the security of your personal data.
