We are excited to announce that the cycling competitions and the sprint triathlon at the World Transplant Games 2025 will take place in a truly beautiful and dynamic setting: the Brettmühlenteich in Thiendorf, located just northeast of Dresden. This scenic venue is no stranger to endurance sports — it serves as the official course for the local triathlon club, which hosts its annual race at this very location.

For the WTG2025, the Brettmühlenteich and its surrounding routes offer the perfect combination of natural beauty and excellent infrastructure to create a world-class experience for athletes, supporters, and spectators alike. In May, our organising team visited the venue during the local triathlon event to gather insights, meet the local organising team, and get a close-up feel of what athletes will experience in August.

To give you a better idea of what to expect, we’ve created a special time-lapse video of the cycling route, showcasing one round of the loop that will be used for the different race formats. Whether you’re a seasoned rider or taking on your first international competition post-transplant, this video will help you visualise the terrain, curves, and scenic backdrop waiting for you in Thiendorf.

The cycling competitions will take place over two days:

  • Tuesday, 19 August 2025
    – 5km Junior Individual Time Trial
    – 10km Individual Time Trial
    – 20km Team Time Trial
  • Wednesday, 20 August 2025
    – 30km Road Race

The Sprint Triathlon, which includes a swim in the Brettmühlenteich itself, a bike ride on the surrounding roads, and a scenic run through the forested areas, will take place on:

  • Thursday, 21 August 2025

Full details and the complete WTG2025 sports schedule can be found here.

Whether you’re preparing to compete or planning to cheer from the sidelines, we can’t wait to welcome you to this exciting part of the Games.

See you at the starting line in Thiendorf!
